Medical Transcription as an Apprenticeable Occupation

Medical Transcription is now recognized as an Apprenticeable Occupation by the U.S. Department of Labor. This is a major step towards establishing a national apprenticeship program. Graduates of selected programs of Medical Transcription can now avail of registered apprenticeship programs.

The recognition has come as a boon to the industry which is facing difficulties in getting qualified candidates to cater to the increasing demand for up-to-date, quality healthcare information and data. The high standards followed by the apprenticeship programs will help in producing quality workforce for the medical transcription industry.

The application for apprenticeability was jointly submitted by the Medical Transcription Industry Association (MTIA) and the American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT). Medical Transcription Industry Association is the world's largest trade association of medical transcription service operators. It works on a not-for-profit basis. The American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT) is a professional organization representing medical transcription operators in the United States.
