SEO Copywriting Services
Before understanding the term SEO copywriting, let's see what copywriting is in general for a moment. By definition, copywriting is the process of writing the words that promote a person, business, opinion, or idea. It may be used as,
- Printed plain text (headlines/slogans/ lyrics etc
- Radio commercial
- Television commercial script
- Telephone based publicity
- Internet content /e-mail/ whitepapers
SEO or Search engine optimization has come a long way since its early inception more than a decade ago. Today it is a more complex and competitive process. Websites that are optimizing their websites professionally, in an ethical way, can be assured of good website traffic, good conversion rate and a good position in the SERP (search engine results page). They have realized the importance of good SEO based copywriting. No wonder, Web content writers/copywriters are one of the fastest growing segments of the copywriting profession worldwide. What is unique about SEO copywriting?
Writing for the web is a different art when compared to writing for the print media, like news papers magazines or even journals. SEO copywriting is more different and an art that has to be gradually mastered. The articles and writing has to become visible first, and this is possible only if the webpage is attractive enough for the search engines also. One has to create a page with the right kind of blended page that is informative, well linked, easily indexed by the search engines and highly relevant to the website's objectives using appropriate keywords. As far as the search engines are concerned the key to a good search result is the use of the keyword in the page title tags etc. A good click through rate, high website/page ranking along with a good site traffic is not difficult if proper SEO copywriting is done in combination good coding and a professional SEM (search engine marketing) campaign.

Choosing between SEO and CPC
In the world of online advertisement, one of the most important terms is (SEO) Search Engine Optimization and the other is PPC (Pay per Click). PPC is also known as CPC (Cost per Click). Pay per click is an advertising model used on search engines, advertising networks, and content websites/blogs, where advertisers only pay when a user actually clicks on an ad to visit the advertiser's website.
Of late there has been a rise in the investment in SEO. Does it have anything to do with CPC? Yes indeed! Click costs are on the rise and companies that had earlier been investing in PPC campaigns are now focusing their marketing efforts towards Search Engine Optimization. This is mainly because of the trend of rising cost of the CPC and the growing demands for increasing the advertisement budget. Another big problem faced by such companies had been the rising click frauds and so they gave up totally on investments in CPC and replaced it with an active SEO campaign.
What is the main difference between these two types of campaign with regards to effectiveness and the economics of advertisement? Well one must understand that the difference is that while pay per click marketing is more of an advertising investment search engine optimization is an investment in infrastructure. A pay per click marketing campaign has usually a beginning and end, and this makes it easier to determine the return of Investment. (ROI) Remember if any does not show a positive ROI, then the investment should be not be undertaken.
In the case of SEO however it will be a much slower process and results will come only much later but the effects will remain for a longer time. While investing in CPC campaigns the advertisement and the company's exposure ends the very moment the campaign ends. But if a good position is acquired by SEO efforts, the company will keep getting good traffic and exposure on the SERP (search engine results page) every time some one searches with the relevant key words even when the SEO campaign is over.

Link Farms and Search Engine Optimization
What are link farms? Well, you could say as the name suggests that they are farms that produce links. To be clearer, it is a system where all the members of the group are linked to each other via a common link page. Thus each of the member's website will have a link to the other member's website. Sounds quite convenient for the website, but there is more to it than meets the eye.
As a bad SEO practice one may join any such link program and make one's website seem to look popular instantly/ overnight. As most of such link programs have up to hundreds or thousands or more of members instant access to large number of sites becomes possible. But please beware, because the website crawlers from Google and other search engines can easily identify such an artificially given boost of link popularity. It is aware that this kind of linking has nothing to do with real popularity of the website and that it amounts to actually cheating/misleading the online visitor.
It is unfortunate that many a websites have got penalized by Google (like a fall in the website's page rank) just because they took part in such link programs though innocently without being aware of its long term implications. It is possible that the intention of the webmaster was not to fool the search engine like Google, but to increase its incoming website traffic. However it still amounts to bad SEO practice. Take a look at the webmaster guidelines from Google at http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769&hl=en
It is always better to get incoming links from a reputed website with a better page rank and one that is more relevant to our website's topic or business. The search engine does not just look at the quantity or numbers of the inbound links but also looks into the quality of these links. If links are coming in from some irrelevant low profile/bad neighborhood websites it would definitely not impress the search engines. So then what is the way to increase your site links? The simple answer is to get simple reciprocal links. Just find a good website and write to them or contact them to swap links with you. This kind of link swapping has a double advantage,
- Can build good relations with other related business
- Can impress the search engines with link popularity

Writing Articles for Search Engine Optimization
One comes across of a lot of articles these days on the web that looks very obviously written mainly for the search engines and not for humans. Most of such articles are easy to be identified because they are stuffed with keywords and contain nothing really useful. I accept that writing with the search engine in mind is not bad, but writing only for the search engine sounds very funny in the first place. But probably many have done some thing like that and ranked better in the past. However as technology is fast catching up, I am sure these things will change and quality on the net will be a prerequisite for online success.
Articles are written either for a general audience or specifically for some niche group with some objectives depending on the type of website and business. All SEO professionals/content developers and others who write and publish online articles have certain very common business objectives. These must ideally include,
- Providing information
- Get a higher rank
- Better linking with other sites
If the website does not provide some useful information then the purpose of the article itself is lost. One may be able to attract a good number of people (traffic) into the website and into the webpage, but if the visitors do not find the article useful or interesting, they may immediately click out of the page. Distribution of an article that is not well written will not be appreciated and linked to by other sites. Thus the article must,
- Be relevant
- Be useful to the audience
- Must be Informational
- Simple and well written
- Must retain the reader's interest
- Use variation of the key phrase instead of repeating
- Avoid over repetition of keyword
- Be targeted at the target audience
- Help the reader with info/ otherwise

Feed Aggregator based SEO Syndication
Having good content is an essential part of any effective website and content syndication using feed aggregators has proven to be the best available SEO strategy. So what is a feed aggregator? Well in Internet technology it is the software or a hosted application that collects feeds from various sources and displays it in a single view, either in a desktop window or in a web browser.
A feed aggregator that is also known as a feed reader / news reader or just aggregator, is a client's or a web application/software which actually accumulates (or aggregates) syndicated Internet content like news headlines, blogs, and pod casts etc into one single website so that it can all be viewed easily without browsing around for it.
So what about the benefits of having a feed aggregator?
- It reduces search time and creates a personal news paper
- User determined retrieval / updating of feed interval
- Easy to unsubscribed if desired
Many of the major portals like Yahoo and Google etc have aggregator built in programs that are also known as feed readers, feed aggregators, news readers, and search aggregators. It makes possible for the different types of contents to be viewed from just one window.
There are three types of web based aggregators.
- Remote server web applications (like Google Reader/ Bloglines)
- Web widgets and AJAX coding based feeds
- Community based (not personal) aggregators
The client based aggregators have GUIs (Graphical User Interface) that are very user-friendly and may resemble popular portal designs. Plug-ins and extensions are also other types of aggregators. RSS feeds are also managed by programming language libraries. Also, there are aggregators with web feeds that may contain audio or video. These RSS enclosures are ways of attaching multimedia content to RSS feeds by providing the URL of a file associated with an entry, such as an MP3 file or a photo. However, do remember that an aggregator is different from an e-mail attachment because it has just hyperlinks to a file without embedding of actual data into the feed.

Search Engine Optimization and Sitemap Submission
A sitemap is a list of all the pages on a website and a good navigation aid. Creation and submission of a sitemap helps make sure that the search engine gets to know about all the pages on the website, including URLs that may not be discoverable by the normal crawling process. Proper Sitemap submission is an important SEO (Search Engine Optimization) activity.
There are basically two types of Sitemaps.
- Sitemaps for users/readers
- Sitemap for search engines
The first type of Sitemap is a HTML page and lists the pages of the website. It helps the users to find the information they require.
What are XML sitemaps? An XML sitemap is actually the Sitemap made for the search engine. A Sitemap is very important due to the following reasons.
- The website has dynamic content.
- When the website has got web pages that cannot be easily discovered during the crawlers
- Use of Ajax / JavaScript on the website
- A new siteLess linked website
- Big volume archive on site without interlinking
Actually Sitemaps provide additional information about the web site to Google, complementing the regular methods of crawling of the web. The Sitemap will help in crawling more of the site and also in a more timely fashion. However Google cannot guarantee that the URLs from the Sitemap will be added to the Google index.
Sitemap 0.90 is offered under the terms of the Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons License and has a wide adoption policy that includes support from Google, Yahoo and Microsoft.
Creative Commons licenses are several copyright licenses released on December 16, 2002 by Creative Commons, a U.S. non-profit corporation that was founded in 2001. Creative Commons licenses are currently available in 34 different jurisdictions worldwide.
How is the information given to the crawlers by the search engines? Once we have created the Sitemap file and placed on the server, the search engine can be informed in one of the following ways.
- Submission via the search engine's submission interface
- Specifying the location in the site's robots.txt file
- Sending an HTTP request
After Sitemap submission process the search engines makes the Sitemap available to their search crawlers.

SEO / SEM and the Landing Page
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is today an essential process that cannot be overlooked by any online business website. Having a well designed website which is not optimized for the search engines is not desirable. The webpage / site must be able to attract the required traffic that fulfils the business objectives. If you have an online marketing campaign going on, it is very essential that required potential traffic keeps flowing into the website.
Actually in SEO every page of a site that gets indexed by search engines becomes a potential landing page. Here there may not be a single landing page that demands immediate /instant conversion. The content of the web page and/or links to the page are optimized for very specific, carefully researched keywords.
However in SEM (Search Engine Marketing) and PPC (pay per click) Campaigns, a landing page, also known by the term lead capture page, is the page that appears when a potential customer clicks on an advertisement or a search-engine result link. The page will usually display content that is a logical extension of the advertisement or link, which is optimized to feature specific keywords or phrases for indexing by search engines. This landing page is also used for counting and tracking all the arrivals and determines the level of effectiveness of a marketing campaign.
Landing pages may be either, While the referential landing page contains the relevant information as required by the visitor, a transactional landing page seeks to persuade a visitor to complete some transaction. This could be filling up some form/ registration/ or addition to a mailing list etc. Only once the transaction is over, can the vistor be said to be a conversion. But this is a challenging process. How do we motivate a visitor to register? He needs to be comforted, motivated and directed to take action and get converted. A more efficient landing page will mean a better conversion rate.
Needless to say, a lot of effort has to go in designing the right landing page that can enhance a website's conversion rate. One might have to try out different designs and see which one works best.
