Marketing is an old word in business management but changes in marketing technology have been constantly revolutionizing the science of marketing. I remember studying marketing in college when the Internet was not a major force by itself. Those days we assumed that business and marketing would always involve huge expenses in traveling and postage and communication. Most of that concept has changed today. Today online marketing is an unavoidable aspect for any product or service and one can even say that the world in itself has become one big market place networked by the Internet and globalization will breaking all barriers of race, creed distance and time.

Communication has always been the key to marketing and will always be so. And blogging is a great way to communicate. Blogs are great marketing tools of today that let us communicate on a local national and international level. One may represent a business house or may even be just an individual. Using one’s personal blog a person today can further his career, share his personal life with others, and network with others from the same field irrespective of their location.

So what is a blog? Actually the word “blog” is a combination of the words “web” and “log”. Blog entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order. Actually blogs did begin in 1900 when people did keep online diaries. Today blogs have evolved and may consist of a combination of text, images, links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on photographs (photoblog), videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting).
