Hi, this is Amber Darst, Solutions Manager from Managed Outsourced Solutions.

October is observed as “National Orthodontic Health Month” and is sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). This campaign aims to create awareness about the benefits of orthodontic treatment and the significance of good oral health. Dentists who specialize in orthodontics help their patients manage abnormal positioning of the teeth, jaw and face. The diagnosis and treatments provided have to be documented accurately on a claim form.

0:35 How Dental Billing Companies help Dental Practices

Dental billing and coding can be complex, with changing rules and regulations. This has led many dental practices to rely on dental billing experts to manage their billing. Professional dental billing companies can ease the challenging billing and coding responsibilities, as they stay up-to-date with the ever-changing coding standards and insurance guidelines.

0:59 Orthodontic Treatments

Orthodontic treatments mainly help with malocclusion and help to correctly position the teeth when the mouth is closed. Other treatments include – straightening crooked teeth, aligning the tips of the teeth, reducing any unnatural spacing between the teeth, and boosting the long-term health of gums and teeth. If left untreated, such issues can result in more serious oral health problems such as tooth decay, tooth loss, gum disease or even jaw problems. Devices used for treatment include headgear, braces, fixed or removable space maintainers, aligners, retainers, splints and more. As part of the orthodontic treatment, the orthodontist will study the state of the person’s teeth and predict how they are likely to develop without treatment. For this evaluation, the orthodontist will perform a full medical and dental health history, complete examination, take X-rays of the teeth and jaw, and make plaster models of the teeth. Based on the analysis, the orthodontist will then decide on the specific treatment plan.

As part of the 2022 month-long campaign, orthodontists and dentists will work together to raise awareness about the importance of proper dental care and oral hygiene among children and adults. Orthodontists observe National Orthodontic Health Month by following up with their patients in a timely manner, and offering tips and suggestions that help their patients maintain good oral hygiene and beautiful, healthy smiles.

And that’s all on this. Thanks for listening in!
