Outsource Strategies International (OSI), an experienced US based medical billing and coding company, is pleased to announce that their article “National Handwashing Awareness Week – Make Hand Hygiene a Habit” is featured as the Latest Featured Article in BC Advantage Magazine, the largest independent industry resource for medical coders and billers, healthcare auditors, practice managers, compliance officers, and clinical documentation experts. The article was published in the Practice Management Category on November 30, 2020.

National Handwashing Awareness Week is celebrated every year from December 1-7 with worldwide activities, events, and advocacy campaigns. The message is simple: washing hands with soap and clean running water is one of the simplest ways to remove germs from hands, prevent diseases, avoid spreading germs to others, and save lives. In 2020, National Handwashing Week is more significant than ever as the World Health Organization (WHO) says handwashing with soap remains the best defense against the novel coronavirus.

The author of the article, Meghann Drella, CPC is a Senior Solutions Manager at Managed Outsource Solutions (MOS). An American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) certified medical coding professional, she has extensive experience in the field of practice and healthcare revenue cycle management.

SARS-CoV-2 is spread when an infected person coughs or sneezes and the infectious droplets land on another person or a frequently touched object or surface. The virus can also get transmitted through handshakes if the person carrying the virus sneezes or coughs into their hand. Washing hands with soap kills the virus.

OSI’s comprehensive article discusses various aspects of hand hygiene: How Handwashing helps reduce Risk of Disease, Impact of Hand Hygiene on Infectious Disease Risk, Guidance for Effective Handwashing (when and how to wash your hands) and Hand Hygiene Compliance in Healthcare Settings.

OSI has been successfully providing medical billing, coding, and insurance verification services for all specialties for more than 15 years. Our AAPC-certified coders are proficient in ICD-10-CM and CPT requirements and guidelines and closely monitor coding changes, payer-specific documentation requirements, and state and federal regulations.

We are glad that has recognized our experience and expertise has been acknowledged by BC Advantage Magazine and will continue to contribute resources catering to the healthcare industry.
