Thanksgiving Day is almost here, and people are getting ready to meet their loved ones and friends and spend time together to offer thanks for the blessings in their lives. Like any festivity that involves food preparation and partying, injuries and illnesses are likely during Thanksgiving as well. Physician practices and EDs may witness patients coming in with such concerns. On the administration side, this in turn involves medical billing and claim submission and a medical billing and coding company like ours also receive related billing and coding requests from providers. Unlike other years, there are concerns whether this COVID 19 pandemic will allow families to gather around a single table with a turkey served on a platter this year.

CDC’s official holiday guidelines recommend low-risk Thanksgiving activities–

  • have a small dinner party with people in your household
  • prepare traditional recipes for family and neighbors
  • share recipes in ways that avoid in-person contact

We have compiled a list of ICD-10 codes to use to report Thanksgiving incidents and some are funny too.

While physicians are busy treating patients this holiday season, they can rely on professional medical coding companies to take care of the claim submission work. It is best to have experienced coders handle the medical coding work because they will select the most specific medical codes related to treatments provided and thereby minimize/avoid denials.
