Revenue Cycle Management for Sports Medicine Practice

Overview

OSI (Outsource Strategies International), an MOS company, provides comprehensive revenue cycle management services for healthcare entities. We were approached by Birmingham, Alabama-based Fagan Sports Medicine that specializes in the following:

  • Acute Injuries
  • Sports Injuries
  • Sprains/strains
  • Fractures
  • Overuse Injuries
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Fitness & Wellness
  • Prevention
  • Concussions
  • Pre-participation Exams

The Challenge

The client was going through a phase of growth and needed support for that. Their office manager was handling all the collections, which compromised the attention she could set apart for other areas of the business. The need for expert handling of revenue management was felt.

The Solution

OSI provides an approach that is unique to the needs of clients. This was felt in the solution we offered Fagan. We believed that it would be better to set apart a part-time employee for the client rather than work on a collection percentage aspect. With the part-time employee, the client was able to grow. This resulted in an increased workload, which we later satisfied with a full time employee. We work within their system, Navicure, making it convenient for the client to review and analyze the work we do.

Results

This ongoing project that we began in August 2012 has satisfied the client to the extent that we are being recommended to other doctors. We have been able to significantly free up the client’s time since we manage all aspects of billing and collections. They have expressed their happiness and satisfaction with our services and also how we manage the account. All their concerns are addressed quickly and effectively.
